Tamara Čurović was born to Slavko Čurović and Svetlana Prudnikova, former champion of Russia in chess.[4] She has a brother, Vladislav.[5] Čurović began playing tennis aged nine in local tennis clinic,[4] and is currently member of TK Partizan.[6] She cites Maria Sharapova, Ana Ivanović and Jelena Janković as her idols.[6]
Čurović is said to be powerful and intelligent at court.[7] She hits the ball long, not with much spin, and is described as a mixture of both girls' and boys' playing style.[7]
